M.O.S.T.

Mobile Service Outreach Team

The Mobile Outreach Service Team (M.O.S.T.) focuses on reaching the estimated 2,000 people living in encampments that are not within reach of social service agencies. The people living in these encampments are assisted through this program with access to housing, mental health services, and COVID-19-related testing and health service referrals.

In addition, Dorothy Day House has rekindled our close partnership with Christ Church to have a group of their volunteers spearhead our Outreach endeavors once a month on Saturdays.

We are so grateful to everyone that supports our outreach efforts, and would like to give specific thanks to two of our top donating organizations Bayer Corporation, a dedicated extremely impactful advocate and partner, and Inner Sunset Community Advocates, a significant champion for positive change in the Bay Area - who have both assisted in getting much needed assistance to our friends and neighbors living in encampments through their support of Dorothy Day House.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

ROBBI MONTOYA

DDH EXECUTE DIRECTOR

It is said that people will forget what you have done for them , but you will never forget how you made them feel. Communities that work together win together. And we are all in this together

ADRIENNE

ENCAMPMENT RECIPIENT

I really appreciate the extra help when my food stamps run out because $10 a day isn’t enough. Berkeley has a lot of extra help. Even when I least expect it.

BOB WHALEN

DDH PROCUREMENT MANAGER

The real key for us is the flexibility it gives us. We can give services anywhere. [And] a big part of it is to build trust. It’s a lot easier to get people to accept services if we have a good relationship.
